AI for Growth

A new era of growth is coming to the UK, and AI is the key that unlocks it.
AI for Growth was launched to help make this growth happen as soon, as successfully and as society-wide as is possible.
Key to realising AI’s true growth potential for the UK is embedding it in ways that unite and amplify the country’s great foundations: our world-class research and education institutions, dynamic start-up and scale-up scene, and deep expertise across multiple sectors and specialisms.
To accelerate this, we are the UK’s first single point of engagement between government and industry to align priorities, coordinate delivery, and mobilise action at scale. AI needs to spread like steam once did.

It’s time to orchestrate AI for everyone in the economy. It’s time to unleash AI for growth.

AI for Growth will focus on three national priorities:

AI Reskilling

Support the UK's 10 million AI Reskilling cantional target, geared towards equipping people and organisations, especially SMEs, for the changing world of work.

AI Security

Enable secure, trustworthy, and well-governed AI development, through sector-specific guidelines and use cases

AI Infrastructure

Lay the foundations for sovereign AI, by accelerating UK digital infrastructure expansion and enabling access
Within these priorities, AI for Growth will launch a portfolio of initiatives focused on two groups: UK Small and Medium Enterprises, to drive productivity through practical AI adoption; and UK frontier AI companies, to support their scale-up and competitiveness at both national and global level.

Priority initiatives for 2026

SME AI Community Hub
The SME Community Hub is a unified platform for SMEs to engage, share and learn how to adopt AI in their business. It supports peer-to-peer learning through facilitated forums where members discuss what’s working (and what isn’t), exchange practical advice, and capture best practices for embedding AI into their business, helping the community build shared, collective knowledge.

AI-enabled voice learning tool
A national-scale, AI-powered learning product, using conversational and voice-based AI to personalise learning. The product will leverage ElevenLabs’ agentic voice technology, with options for British regional accents and celebrity voices to increase engagement.

AI Security Checklist
An interactive checklist providing practical, accessible guidance to clarify common requirements and risks for organisations to adopt AI responsibly. The checklist will be supported by a lightweight diagnostic tool offering risk profiling and will be adaptable for both small businesses and larger organisations, with tailored requirements for each.

AI Infrastructure (Initial proposal)
Awareness and education initiatives within governmental bodies to ensure a baseline understanding of AI infrastructure and its strategic importance to the UK’s national interest, particularly encouraging UK business to buy UK infrastructure. Research project to uncover UK positioning on AI infrastructure and what barriers industry has seen holding AI infrastructure back.
AI for Growth will operate as a voluntary, cross-sector membership body bringing together frontier AI companies, large corporates and technology providers, SMEs, government and regulators, academia, and civil society.
Membership is contribution-led: members commit capital, capability, data, time, or leadership to advance shared initiatives. In return, they gain influence, insight, trusted networks, and a seat at the table shaping the UK’s AI-driven growth agenda.
